Staff Changes Announced at Copper Development Association

NEW YORK- Copper Development Association. president, Robert M. Payne, announced the promotion of John G. Cowie to Vice President for Strip, Sheet and Plate Markets and the addition of Phillip D. Gray to the new position of West Central Regional Manager for Copper Plumbing Tube and Fittings.

Cowie is responsible for market development and technical assistance programs for his product group and and for specific to electronic applications and multiproduct projects. Before joining CDA in 1996 as manager for technical services, Cowie was an adjunct professor of Materials and Science Engineering at the University of New Mexico, a senior research scientist for olin Metals research Laboratories in New Haven, Connecticut, and a materials research engineer at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in Massachusetts. He has a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Gray, operating out of Dallas, Texas, is responsible for market development, codes and standards, training, seminars and other industry support activities for his ten-state region. CDA now has five plumbing specialists serving the U.S. building industry. Gray, a retired Major from the U.S. Army Reserve, brings 25 years of experience in various research and engineering support tasks for the HVAC, plumbing and construction industries. He holds a B.S. degree in HVAC Engineering and Systems Design from Virginia Commonwealth University.
