Frank Lloyd Wright Gas Station
Architectural Masterpiece?
When Frank Lloyd Wright was asked which of his works he considered his masterpiece, he always answered, "My next project!" Erected in 1922, the Best Service Station in Cloquet, Minnesota, is surely the only service station in the world designed by one of America's most famous architects. Terry Chartier, its owner since 1982, reported that the copper roof never leaks. The firm that roofed the station, A. W. Kuettel & Sons, Duluth, is still in business.
