Steeple Square, a Gothic-style former church, needed a complete restoration in 2018, on the upper one-third of its 211-foot-high metal steeple. Through the use of scaffolding, a crane and other lift equipment, crews replaced the existing sheet metal of the steeple with fabricated copper. Dormers and decorative elements were also replaced with copper.
The building now serves as a beacon for affordable housing, educational training and recreational programs. Today, this soaring landmark of the Dubuque skyline is poised to be reestablished as a center for culture, community and education.
